Screen Sharing Is Coming To Messenger For Android And iOS

Facebook is bringing the screen-sharing feature, which is already available on Messenger video calls and Messenger Rooms, to Messenger for Android and iOS.

After months of working remotely, you probably are all well versed on how to share your screen during a Zoom presentation or Google Meet (formerly known as Hangout.) But did you know you can also share your screen while on Messenger video calls?

After introducing the screen-sharing feature on desktop and via Messenger Rooms, Facebook is now making it available on the iOS and Android Messenger apps too.

Screen-sharing is available on one-on-one video calls, group video calls with up to eight people and via Messenger Rooms with up to 16 people.

The announcement came from Product manager Nora Micheva in a blog post:

“Screen sharing lets you share a live view of your screen so you can share virtually anything together. Whether you want to share memories from your camera roll, shop together online, co-browse social media, and more—screen sharing makes it easy to stay connected and close with your loved ones, even when you’re physically apart.”

Micheva also said that Facebook will soon add the ability for Rooms creators to control who can share screens in their Rooms, along with expanding the number of people that screens can be shared with from 16 to 50.
