Polaroid just dropped a new flip camera, and it’s giving vintage vibes with a side of sonar autofocus.
Meet the Polaroid Flip, the brand’s latest instant camera, inspired by classics like the OneStep 600. It’s a retro-styled, point-and-shoot camera with a front lid that flips open just like the OG, but packed with surprisingly modern tech under the hood.

The headline feature? A new Hyperfocal 4-Lens System that automatically selects from four built-in focal lengths to keep your subject crisp, whether they’re close-up or across the room. And yes, it uses sonar autofocus (basically, sound waves, just like bats) to make that happen. It even works in the dark!
Other highlights:
- A seriously powerful adaptive flash that adjusts based on distance and lights up subjects up to 15 feet away
- Scene Analysis that helps prevent bad exposures before they happen
- Built-in self-timer and double exposure modes
- Bluetooth connectivity via the Polaroid app for remote shooting and extra controls
The Flip works with both i-Type and 600 film, charges via USB-C, and comes in two colorways.
Early access starts today for Polaroid members, with a global launch on April 29. Price tag: $199 / £199.99 / €219.
It’s the best of both worlds: a camera that looks like a throwback but shoots like 2025.
Oh and the launch campaign is taking a direct jab at our online life. Who can blame them?
