Lucien Clarke Reveals First-Ever Louis Vuitton Skate Shoe

The first-ever Louis Vuitton skate shoe was designed by Palace Skate’s Lucien Clarke in collaboration with Virgil Abloh.

Lucien Clarke took to Instagram to reveal a signature Louis Vuitton skate shoe. This is the first-ever piece of skateboarding footwear for the French luxury fashion house.

Lucien Clarke designed the show in collaboration with Virgil Abloh, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection since March 2018. Abloh is also the chief executive officer of the Milan-based label Off-White, a fashion house he founded in 2013.

The Lucien Clarke x Louis Vuitton skate shoe boasts an early ’00s silhouette layered with mesh and suede uppers. Lucien Clarke’s signature features prominently on the side while the Louis Vuitton logo is set on the tongue and heel tab. The shoe features thick semi-translucent midsoles connected by a molded midfoot plate. The soles also feature three LV monogram graphics. Clarke and Abloh revealed two colorways: black/orange and green/grey.

Consequently, the launch of its first skate shoe also marks Louis Vuitton’s first-ever ad in Thrasher magazine.

Lucien Clarke is a Jamaican-born, London-based skateboarder. He has already modeled for Louis Vuitton in the past and been the face of many Palace campaign. His collaboration with one of the top luxury fashion house could mark the beginning of a new skateboard-centric trend for luxury brands.
