LinkedIn is tightening its defenses against hiring scams by making recruiter and executive verification mandatory.
From now on, anyone adding or updating a recruitment-related job title, such as Recruiter or Talent Acquisition Specialist, will be required to verify their workplace. Executives with titles like Executive Director or Vice President will also need to complete the same process. Existing recruiters won’t be forced to verify right away, but LinkedIn says it will be phased in.

Verification is free and simple: the most common method is confirming a company email address. Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn’s VP of Trust, explained that this change is meant to “help job-seekers identify legitimate recruiters and avoid scams.”
The platform already offers “Verified Recruiter” labels for those using paid recruiter licenses, but this new step broadens the scope to anyone in recruitment or executive roles.
Alongside this, LinkedIn is rolling out wider access to company page verification. Previously available by request only, verification badges are now open to any company with a Premium page subscription.
LinkedIn first introduced verification in 2023, with over 80 million members verifying their profiles since then. Earlier this year, the company extended its verification system beyond LinkedIn itself, allowing platforms like Adobe to display “Verified on LinkedIn” badges.
With this latest move, LinkedIn is hoping to make job hunting a little safer, and scammers’ work a lot harder.
