It’s been in the making for a couple of months, but now it’s quasi-official; Instagram is testing a new type of Stories, called Type.
What’s different with Type? So far, users had to double tap and hold on their screen to create a solid colour background and then they only had one font type to use for their messages. Type removes this process, as it gives users the opportunity to update their Stories feed using only Text updates. For this reason, Instagram gives them a variety of font types and backgrounds to use.
Users can find “Type” option right next to the other stories formats at the bottom of the screen. The screenshots shared with us by Webetainfo show that Instagram will give users the opportunity to choose from a variety of backgrounds and styles. We’re particularly fond of Neon and typewriter and we can’t wait to see how users make the most out of these new features.
This is yet another upgrade for Instagram stories, which is also testing a way for users to cross-publish their stories on WhatsApp, too.
