To whoever had a doubt, the message is clear: Instagram Stories is a brilliant success. Just two month after its launch, the feature already counts over 100 million daily active users.
When Instagram decided to have its own version of Snapchat Stories, some were doubtful. Others questioned the need for it, and some even predicted it could be the end of Snapchat.
Two months later, we know Instagram Stories has not caused Snapchat too much trouble with its core demographic of 16- to 25-year-olds. Instagram Stories is actually attracting a many over 25, who probably find themselves much more familiar with the platform.
So is it a success? Was it needed? Well, ask the 100 million DAUs! That’s around half of the total DAUs of Twitter, and three times more than PokemonGO – which experts predicted was going to be the app of the year.
The stat comes from a Buzzfeed report which also indicated that Instagram now counts over half a billion monthly active users. So, yes, there is still a lot of room for growth for Instagram Stories.
