Instagram has launched the @shop account which showcases shoppable posts and community trends on its platform.
Instagram is going into full “e-commerce mode” lately. Apart from the various new features announced in the last months, last week the company also launched @shop – a curated account to help boost interest in features like shoppable posts and promote small businesses – and the creators behind them.
The account is curated by an internal team at Instagram that will “work with the Community Labs team to identify trends, brands, and creators that are of interest” to the community. As such, the content featured on the account will be fully driven by community trends.
According to an Instagram spokesperson, “the account will be a real-time indicator of what’s new and emerging on Instagram.”
The account currently features posts with featured products from several brands like Feel Jeans, Cafuné, The Lip Bar, and others. Each post features product tags so that viewers can go and buy the products.

For the time being though, the account does not include brands from the recently announced Instagram Checkout beta.
