A couple of months ago, Instagram launched Boomerang, a new standalone app that wanted to change the way we share animated images on social media. Yes, it was a real threat to GIFs. But that was before Facebook allowed GIFs to work on its platform.

Boomerang is a cool app: it creates animated short videos out of separate images and loops them.
And yesterday, the app got a nice update which came out quietly, with just a quick note on the Instagram blog page.
Only Keep The Best
With the updated Boomerang app, the videos you create are no longer automatically saved to your camera roll. So now, you can create and share videos, and only keep your best ones on your phone. In times were storage space is never enough, this is good news for heavy users.

Sharing Is Now Easier
It might sound funny for an app developed by Instagram, but sharing your Boomerang videos on Instagram was not very easy before. In the updated version, both Facebook and Instagram are fully integrated and you can now share your creations with just one tap.
Explore The Dark Side
Well, at least now you can make Boomerang videos even when the light is not great. The app now works with your device’s flash, allowing you to shoot in the dark. Finally, but this is only for iPhone and iPad for the moment.
