Instagram Expands Badges In Live To More Countries

After testing badges as a way for creators to monetize their Live broadcasts, Instagram is now expanding the feature to more creators in more countries.

Back in May, Instagram introduced badges in Live that let fans participate in Live broadcasts and support their favorite creators. Viewers can purchase badges that appear next to their name and let them stand out in comments and unlock other features like a special heart and the ability to appear on a creator’s “badge holders list.”

The ultimate goal, of course, is to help creators monetize their Instagram Live broadcasts. According to Instagram, “this is another step forward in our vision to build a suite of tools that helps creators make money through branded content, shopping, content monetization, and direct support from fans.”

After testing badges with a small group of creators and businesses over the last few months, Instagram is now expanding the feature to more than 50,000 creators in new countries across the globe. As of last week, badges in Instagram Live are rolling out in France, UK, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Japan.

In addition to the above, Instagram also announced that it will be matching earnings from badges starting in November.

Badges will soon be expanding to many more creators around the world.
