Hublot and Nespresso partnered to create the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin, a luxury watch made from recycled Nespresso pods.
You would not think that Hublot and Nespresso had much in common. Outside of both being Swiss that is. The former is known for its robust history of crafting fine timepieces. The latter makes coffee and high-end coffee machines. Yet, Hublot and Nespresso joined efforts to create the first watch partly made out of recycled Nespresso aluminum pods.

It took an entire year, including research and development, to craft the 42mm watch. the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin appears in a vibrant green hue, with a satin and polished finish. But what makes it truly unique is its composition, partly made of recycled aluminum Nespresso capsules.
“The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is a watch born out of a close collaboration between the product development teams of Nespresso and Hublot, two pioneering Swiss brands, both of whom were founded in the 1980s,” said Hublot’s CEO, Richard Guadalupe. “It took the R&D teams a whole year to achieve the uniformity of color of the watch’s seven different materials, find the right balance of ingredients and perform the quality and durability.”
The watch also comes with two straps made from “eco” material. The first includes 4.1% recycled coffee grounds and 8.2 percent recycled rubber. The second is completely recycled and made by the Taiwan company SingTex, which produces a fabric called SCafé made of 5% recycled coffee grounds and 95% recycled polyester. It is the first time that SCafé has been used to make a watch strap.
Hublot’s Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is limited to just 200 pieces. Priced at $24,100, the limited-edition watch is available now on Hublot’s website.
