Happn, the French mobile dating app released two important announcements. It has announced that it hit the 10 million-user milestone, and that its members can now send voice messages to their crushes.

The new feature, which is available for iOS and Android users, will allow Happn members to record and send voice messages to their matches. To use the feature, users can click on the mic icon located within a chat conversation. Holding it down allows them to record a message of up to 1 minute in length. Users can then either choose to send it, or cancel it.
While this update may sound somewhat creepy to many users, Happn assures us that it will only provide them with more means and room for personal expression. By making voice clips available only to existing chat conversations, Happn ensures that only members who have expressed a mutual “crush” can actually communicate with each other.
Happn operates by taking advantage of your mobile phone’s inherent geolocation features. Once registered with the service, users can check which of Happn’s members have been around the same area – within a 200 metre radius – and during approximately the same time. They can then express their interest, and start communicating with each other.
