Google has added new features Shopping results on Google Search to help users safely shop at local stores.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Google has made many changes to how businesses can control their appearance in Search, and the information available to people who search for them. It can be challenging to find the best way to shop from local businesses and that’s why Google searches for “curbside pickup” and “safe shopping” have increased 10x in the last few months.
To help people get the most updated information about the businesses they are interested in shopping at – and the opportunity to do so safely – Google has made several improvements to Shopping results on Google Search.

Local Availability Filter
You can now tap the Shopping tab and select the Nearby filter at the top, or add “near me” to your search to view locally available products in nearby stores. This is especially useful if you want to see something up close before purchasing it or just can’t wait for delivery.
Google Shopping Nearby
Google is making it easier to see what’s in local stores that are near you, before going in person. This features a map view and list of all stores in the area that have certain products.
Google Shopping Compare
In addition to being able to check a business’s opening and closing hours, or how far a store is, you’ll also get a preview of items they sell matching your search.
You will be able to see a carousel that you can scroll through, to see pictures and prices of the resulting products.
Curbside or In-store Pickup
Google now makes it easier to find out which stores offer curbside or in-store pickup. If you want a specific item to be there when you arrive, you can simply call and speak to someone at the store.
