Facebook Finally Shows Some Love For Spotify And Apple Music

Today Facebook announced it now counts over 8 billion video views per day. But that is not the only thing that makes it a serious competitor to YouTube. Music has always been one of those things we love to share on our social media channels. YouTube was always the best place for that, and music videos rule on the platform. But nowadays, we mostly listen to music from dedicated music-streaming apps, like Spotify or Apple Music.

And that was the problem: there you were, listening to a fantastic tune on Spotify (or Apple Music) and you want to share it with your friends on Facebook. You could always do that, except that they would not be able to listen to the track unless they would also accept to use the app. This is about to change, with Facebook Music Stories.

Music Stories allow you to post 30-second clips of your favourite songs from Spotify or Apple Music. You can do this in the same way that you share a link to another website. Facebook will then automatically create a 30-second cut of the song. When your friends listen to it, directly from within Facebook, they will then get the option to purchase the song from Apple Music, or stream it from Spotify, depending on where the link comes from.
