Facebook has announced that Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Warner Bros. are bringing new content to the Watch Together feature on Messenger.
Watch Together is a recently announced feature that lets you watch videos, movies, shows, and other content together with your friends, in Messenger video calls or Messenger Rooms.
Up until now, you could only use it to view Facebook Watch videos with others, but a new collaboration with Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Warner Bros. is about to bring a lot more to watch.

You’ll be able to watch features like Fruitvale Station, Hairspray, Reservoir Dogs, and more – and hits like Madea’s Family Reunion and Karate Kid soon. You can also watch a season of Community or Dawson’s Creek, or Haloween favorites like The Blair Witch Project, The Descent, or The Grudge 2.
How to Use Watch Together on Messenger
- Start a Messenger video call, or create a Messenger Room
- Swipe up to access the menu and select Watch Together.
- From here choose a video suggested for you, or from a category such as ‘TV & Movies,’ ‘Watched,’ ‘or ‘Uploaded.’
Watch Together isn’t just great for people who just want to watch something. It’s also great for creators who want to watch and engage with a video during a Messenger video call. Whether you’re an artist, DJ, chef, or personal trainer, your audience can watch with you and engage with you.
To celebrate the launch of Watch Together, Facebook partnered with Melissa Alcantara to create a series of fitness videos that allow people to work out with their friends virtually, “and motivate each other to achieve their fitness goals.”
You are able to watch videos with up to eight people on a Messenger video call and up to 50 people in Messenger Rooms. The Watch Together feature is free and is available on mobile for iOS and Android.
