Discord Debuts Short Campaign Film Starring Danny DeVito And Awkwafina

Discord has released a new short film where community members escort Danny DeVito and Awkwafina on an immersive journey into what Discord is.

Discord this week unveiled ‘Discord – The Movie (2021),’ a short film starring Danny Devito and Awkwafina as part of the platform’s most recent brand campaign – Imagine a Place – which it launched in May.

Much like the overall campaign ‘Imagine a Place,’ all of the creative concepts of the campaign film have been put together by some of the platform’s most active community members.

Creators from the platform participated in casting, creative direction, set design, scene choices, and much more, to ensure their unique vision, passions, and personalities were reflected in a way they felt most comfortable with.

The film features Danny DeVito and Awkwafina as they embark together on a journey to discover what Discord is. On their adventure, the comedic duo runs into friends along the way, such as Bretman Rock, J. Balvin, Grimes, and others.

Flying cows, an egg-filled DeVito heaven, a family-owned pizza joint with sock puppets, a pirate ship adventure on the high seas and more fill the wonderfully weird and down-right wacky scenes of a movie that embodies the company’s mission: to put its users first; highlighting the all the different ways in which people find their sense of belonging on Discord.

It is already being shown on NBC as part of the Olympic Games event, and will run through the fall across social and digital platforms. It will also include a 24-hour takeover on Hulu and YouTube and the MTV Video Music Awards.
