After a year full of prominent partnerships, Bored Ape Yacht Club will be featured in a new PTE game developed with Animoca Brands.
Last week, Yuga Labs’ notorious Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Hong Kong-based blockchain games investor Animoca Brands announced their newly formed partnership to develop a new Play-To-Earn (PTE) blockchain game based on the collection’s popular NFTs.
Although the two have not yet revealed many details about the game, what we know so far is that it will integrate a collection of BAYC NFTs into a new blockchain game built on a PTE system by the second quarter of 2022.

“We’re excited to work with Animoca Brands to grow the BAYC universe and expand the utility and benefits offered to all Bored Ape NFT holders,” said a Yuga Labs spokesperson in a statement.
“NFTs have emerged as a store of culture,” said Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands. “There are very few icons that are able to represent the surging world of NFTs as powerfully as Bored Ape Yacht Club, which is why we, as a group and in aggregate, hold a significant number of them.”
2021 has proved Bored Ape Yacht Club to be very prestigious indeed. At launch, the apes initially sold for about 0.08 Ether each. Now, the distinct NFTs sell for millions of dollars. The collection of 10,000 NFTs, each depicting an ape with different traits and visual attributes, has recently reached a market valuation of around $2.05 billion and become the fourth largest NFT project in terms of all-time sales, according to dappradar.com.
In the past few weeks, Bored Ape Yacht Club has been teasing a number of other collaborations featuring the apes as protagonists. On December 2, Adidas made its entrance into the metaverse by partnering, among others, with the BAYC.
In November, BAYC announced a 10-day member’s only Bored Ape Yacht Club vs. Mutant Ape Yacht Club mobile game. Meanwhile, a Mutant Ape and three Bored Apes seduced music execs at Universal Music Group, who created a new band called KINGSHIP based on the NFT characters.
BAYC has also partnered with well-known brands such as the magazine Rolling Stone, and popular beverage producer and brand Arizona Iced Tea.
