Melius Is Building AI Creative Workflows, Not Just Ad Generators

Melius is not trying to make marketers slightly better at managing ad spend. It is trying to make the creative work itself easier to generate, reshape and scale.

The startup, founded by former Ramp engineers, initially built an AI-powered performance-marketing tool before abandoning the idea. The team scrapped its original codebase and repositioned Melius around AI-generated campaigns, images and videos. The company says it has raised $25 million and passed $1 million in annualized revenue within two months of coming out of stealth.

Melius wants the creative brief to become the workspace

The product is now presented as an “AI-native operating system for creatives.” Its central idea is a canvas where people can work with AI agents across images, video, audio and text, rather than moving between disconnected generation tools.

That matters because the work rarely ends with one impressive image. A campaign needs a concept board, a treatment, product shots, multiple formats, localized versions and cutdowns for different channels. Melius’s official product page positions the same workspace around concept art, campaign variants, storyboards, lookbooks, ad versions, product imagery and e-commerce assets.

The platform also lets users choose from different models or connect steps together. Its API documentation describes workflows that can move from script to storyboard to finished ad, while templates can be reused across campaigns, products and markets.

The real shift is from generation to direction

AI creative tools have largely been sold as faster ways to produce an asset. Melius is making a broader bet: the valuable layer is the system that keeps the brief, references, decisions and outputs connected.

That is a more demanding product problem. Creative teams do not simply need more images. They need consistency across a campaign, enough control to correct weak outputs, and a way to turn one approved idea into many usable executions. Melius is therefore closer to a collaborative production environment than a prompt box.

For marketers, the strategic consequence is straightforward. AI may reduce the distance between an idea and a finished campaign, but it also increases the amount of creative direction teams are expected to provide. The advantage will not come from generating the most assets. It will come from knowing which assets belong to the same idea.
