With Google Lens, you will be able to search for more information about the things you see in a YouTube Shorts video.
The new feature will roll out in beta in the coming weeks. Once live, you will be able to access it by watching Shorts within YouTube’s mobile app. You will need to pause the Shorts where the object or person is showing and tap the Lens button located in the top menu. Then you will need to circle, highlight or tap the item you want to search for.
YouTube will show you visual matches and search results directly overlaid on the Short video. If you tap on a result, this will automatically take you away from the video you were watching but you will always be able to “quickly jump back into the content you were watching.”

YouTube says that while Lens doesn’t use “biometric facial recognition” to identify specific people, it may show results for “notable public figures.” It also won’t show ads in results during the pilot, and will also not be available on Shorts with shopping affiliate links to start, according to The Verge.
