Home appliances manufacturer, Whirlpool, is turning to Pinterest to set up a first-of-its-kind immersive shopping experience.
Whirlpool and Pinterest have partnered to create a new immersive shopping experience where busy consumers can look around a virtual showroom to shop for their next home appliance.
The experience, called the “Whirlpool Virtual Showroom,” presents shoppers with a 360 view to tour different laundry spaces and take a deeper product dive through hotspots.

The initiative is being launched when buying behavior is increasingly shifting towards the purchase of bigger ticket items (like home appliances) online. According to Pinterest, this is particularly true for US Pinners, who are 1.3x more likely to purchase household appliances online than the general population.
The virtual showroom experience offers a window for Pinners to step in and explore from all angles in an immersive, innovative way that replicates the IRL experience without the need to leave home.
The showroom is designed to let consumers interact with Whirlpool laundry appliances, such as the new Top Load Washer with 2 in 1 Removable Agitator, to discover options and features.
According to Pinterest, 12M monthly Pinners are actively searching for ideas and inspiration to remodel their home on its platform and looking for kitchen appliances. Compared to last year, searches for “little laundry room ideas” have increased 6658%!
“With all that consumers already balance in their lives, making time to visit their local appliance store can be challenging. That’s why we’re so excited to partner with Pinterest to offer a virtual showroom that transports shoppers to an immersive experience as if they were in the showroom itself,” said Cory Fortunato, senior brand manager, shopper marketing, Whirlpool.
“We wanted to make it easy to shop for a new washer and dryer from the convenience of your own home, without sacrificing the benefit of seeing the appliance ‘in real life.’ This innovative showroom experience offers the best of both worlds.”
