WhatsApp Finally Launches Its Long-Awaited Apple Watch App

WhatsApp has officially arrived on your wrist. The Meta-owned messaging giant announced the rollout of its first-ever Apple Watch companion app, allowing users to receive call notifications, read full messages, react to them, and even record and send voice messages directly from their watch, no iPhone required.

“This new experience will help you stay on top of your chats without needing to pull out your iPhone,” WhatsApp explained in its announcement.

The app also supports expanded chat history, clearer images and stickers, and the ability to react to messages, all while maintaining WhatsApp’s signature end-to-end encryption for privacy and security.

To use the app, you’ll need an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or above. WhatsApp says more functionality is coming soon.

The move marks another step in WhatsApp’s multi-device expansion, following the launch of its long-awaited iPad app earlier this year, which brought full video and audio calling (up to 32 participants), screen sharing, and dual-camera support to Apple’s tablet for the first time.

Interestingly, the release also follows Snapchat’s own Apple Watch debut, signaling a broader shift among major social and messaging platforms toward wearable-friendly experiences that let users stay connected at a glance.
