Twiiter has announced a new feature that gives you more information about users who send you unsolicited DM requests.
If you receive many unsolicited Twitter DM requests, here’s a new feature that will make your life a bit easier. Twitter has announced a new feature that gives you more context straight away about the person who sent you a new message request.
Previously, you’d have to go to the unknown user’s profile to see more information about them, but now you’ll see profile information within the message request itself. This saves you the trip to their profile page and makes it faster – and easier – to block users you don’t want to deal with.

New message requests will now also show a list of other profiles that the user follows; profiles that are also connected to you in some way. This gives you more of an idea about how you are connected to them.
The new feature is meant not only to save time – but also to make users feel safer on its platform. This is because the feature also lets users block or report a Twitter DM requests straight away.
New message request…who's this?
Now when you receive a DM request, we're giving you more context upfront about who sent it, like how you’re connected to the person on Twitter. And once you tap into the request, you’ll see their profile info along with their message. pic.twitter.com/QNtwuP99AT

Facebook is also testing a similar feature, albeit in comments. If it rolls out, users will be able to find out more about others taking part in the same public conversations as them, without having to visit their profile. This is particularly useful for people with large followings.
