TikTok is leveling up content curation using AI-powered Smart Keyword Filters. Until now, you could manually block keywords to prevent certain content from popping up on your For You Page (FYP). Now, TikTok’s new tool takes that a step further: it automatically expands your filter to include synonyms and related terms, giving you more control over what you don’t want to see.

Let’s say you filter out “remodeling.” TikTok might also block “renovation” and “home makeover” – all powered by AI. The feature also lets you review and edit the expanded list, so you’re not at the mercy of the algorithm.
Soon, users will be able to bulk-add keywords and increase their list from 100 to 200 entries, making it easier than ever to tailor your feed to your preferences or pet peeves.
TikTok says these filters will become smarter over time as more users engage with them, meaning your feed could become more personalized and more peaceful as the tools get smarter.
And that’s not all: TikTok’s Manage Topics feature, previously tested in the U.S., is now rolling out globally. It gives users the ability to dial up or down the amount of content they see around certain topics like food, sports, travel, dance, humor, and current events. You’ll find it under Settings > Content Preferences > Manage Topics.
Between keyword blocking and topic tuning, TikTok is giving users more editorial power than ever before, without ever leaving the app.
