With TikTok’s future in the balance, Skylight has now received backing from entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban.
Skylight promises a creator-friendly alternative to TikTok. The app is already available on both the App Store and Google Play and now, with Cuban’s backing Skylight is ready to take over the market. The app is engaging, user-friendly and offers a vibe that people could really catch on and enjoy.
But let’s be very honest: the future of Skylight largely depends on whether TikTok will end up banned in the US on Sunday.

Skylight lets users shoot, edit, and share quick, vertical videos that people can interact with through swipes, likes, and follows, just like TikTok. So what’s the difference? Well for starters its availability does not depend on the political agenda, and that’s already a big advantage. Skylight is also built on the AT protocol, the same technology used by Bluesky, which means it will be available to all 34 million users on Bluesky, without the need for them to create separate accounts. To that extend, it is matching the Instagram/Threads energy.
Skylight was started by co-founder Tori White, a travel influencer who, like many creators, feared losing her audience amid conversations of a potential game-ending TikTok ban. In perhaps the most ironic way, White documented the app’s development right on her TikTok, using her following to promote her alternative to the platform that helped her build a following in the first place.
Skylight is just getting started, but the team already has big plans, including adding popular features like duets, audio clips, and stitched video responses.
