Threads Wants You to Cross-Post on Instagram

Could your Threads get more views if you shared them on your Instagram Stories? It seems to be what Meta is suggesting.

Some Threads users are seeing a new prompt inviting them to cross-post their Threads posts to Instagram Stories, as reported by social media expert Matt Navarra.

Why would someone do that? “To get more eyes on your posts,” according to Meta.

Cross-posting has always been at the heart of Meta’s strategy to continue to grow and bring more interaction between its platforms. Of course, keeping users within the ecosystem is also good business for the company.

Sharing Threads on Instagram also makes total sense from a user’s perspective. Most of us have more followers on IG than we do on the more recently launched Threads. Getting IG eyes to see our posts can only benefit reach, if done correctly.

Meta’s Twitter clone app is still seeing strong download numbers, and at last check, had exceeded 320 million active users. Which is still a long way off X, which recently reported 600 million MAU.

Inviting users to cross-post on IG will certainly help Threads keep momentum, and bring more people to the app.
