Spotify Wrapped is back, and this year, the streaming giant is steering the experience firmly back to what people actually love: personalized nostalgia, data-driven storytelling, and social bragging rights.
After the widely criticised 2024 edition (remember the AI-generated podcast?), Wrapped 2025 returns with more transparency, more interactivity, and its first-ever multiplayer feature.
And yes, for the first time in years, Wrapped actually feels new again.
Wrapped Party: Wrapped Goes Multiplayer
The headline feature this year is Wrapped Party, Spotify’s first live, interactive experience. Users can invite up to nine friends and compare listening habits in real time. But this isn’t just a side-by-side stat comparison, it’s a dynamic social game.
Spotify generates group-level “data stories,” handing out titles like:
- Most Obsessed Fan
- Early Bird (listener spreading plays across morning hours)
- Picky Listener
- Dinner Table Explainer (the one who binges news podcasts)
Each session reshuffles the data, meaning no two Wrapped Parties look the same, even with the same friends. It’s a clever evolution: Wrapped has always been inherently social, but this is the first time it truly becomes a shared experience.
More Transparency, More Data, More Fun
Spotify also brings something users have asked for for years: real play counts in the Top Songs playlist. For the first time, you can finally see that you really did listen to that one song 142 times at 2 a.m.
Wrapped 2025 adds several other new features such as Top Song Quiz, an interactive guessing game where you try to predict your own No. 1 track before Spotify reveals it. Spotify also introduces Wrapped Clubs where the app sorts every listener into one of six “listening styles,” including:
- Soft Hearts Club
- Club Serotonin
- Full Charge Crew
- Cosmic Stereo Club
Within each club, you get a “role” wither Leader, Scout, or Archivist, depending on your behavior. Think Hogwarts houses, but for music taste.
Spotify Wrapped will now also calculate which five-year era of music you listened to most compared to others your own age. If your 2025 Wrapped skews 90s R&B or 70s rock… Spotify is going to tell you.
A Deliberate Step Back From AI, Sort Of
After the backlash against 2024’s AI-heavy Wrapped, Spotify made one message very clear this year: Wrapped 2025 was not generated by AI.
Still, AI didn’t disappear entirely. Spotify uses an LLM behind the scenes to add natural-language storytelling layers to your stats. But the overall experience is intentionally not branded as AI-powered, a direct response to last year’s criticism.
“We take all of that feedback in,” said Matt Luhks, Spotify’s Senior Director of Global Marketing. “What we tried to build was the most creative, most innovative, most engaging Wrapped ever.”
Wrapped Remains the Format Everyone Copies
Spotify also subtly reminded the world that Wrapped still sets the standard, even as Apple Music Replay, YouTube Recap, and others try to catch up.
And with this year’s upgrades, more transparency, more fun, more social connection, Wrapped finally feels like it’s innovating again without losing itself.
Spotify also released its global charts, crowning:
- Bad Bunny – top song and top album
- Joe Rogan – top podcast
- Rebecca Yarros – top audiobook author
Wrapped 2025 is now live globally.
