Spotify Is Working On A Virtual Concerts Feature

Spotify virtual concerts is a new feature that will let you connect to concert livestreams directly within the app.

Spotify is reportedly working on a new virtual events feature that will let you connect and watch live concerts directly from within the app. The feature was spoted by security researcher Jane Manchun Wong who shared the below screenshots.

Spotify did not confirm the test and the feature is not yet available publicly. However, virtual concerts totally make sense for the music app, especially now that in-person events are non-existant. Especially since, in today’s streaming world, musicians make most of their money from concerts rather than selling their music.

Spotify already offers concert ticketing via partner websites such as Ticketmaster, Songkick, or Eventbrite. Therefore it would be an easy step for the app to add virtual ticketed concerts to its roster.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, many artists have taken to social media to play live and connect with their audience. While this has remained a series of isolated and often unplanned events, it seems like a logical next step to move towards organized live virtual concerts.

Spotify is also reportedly working on adding music videos to its platform.
