SpongeBob Fans Can Now Order Krabby Patties IRL at Burger King

Burger King is serving up Krabby Patties and frozen pineapple floats for a limited time, all ahead of The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants.

But would Stephen Hillenburg approve?

Burger King has launched a limited-edition SpongeBob meal across select locations, giving fans a rare chance to try real-world versions of the show’s most iconic foods, from a Krabby Patty-style burger to a frozen pineapple float inspired by SpongeBob’s home.

The drop includes character-themed desserts, collectible packaging shaped like pineapples or treasure chests, and kids’ meal toys tied to the upcoming film. It follows a similar 2024 promotion from Wendy’s, part of a growing wave of SpongeBob-themed food collabs.

What makes this interesting is the lore.

Longtime fans might remember that SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg originally didn’t want fast-food tie-ins at all. He famously wrote the Krabby Patty as a veggie burger, avoiding the idea of underwater animals eating meat, and distancing the franchise from real-world junk-food marketing aimed at kids.

But in 2025, the SpongeBob universe is much bigger than Bikini Bottom.

Licensing, IRL experiences, brand collabs, and now fast-food promos are part of the franchise’s cultural footprint, even if they contradict Hillenburg’s earlier boundaries.

Still, nostalgia wins, and fans are loving the chance to taste Bikini Bottom, even if it’s not exactly the secret formula.

The SpongeBob x Burger King menu is available for a limited time only.

What’s on the menu?

It features four “sea-sonal” creations inspired by all your favorite “SpongeBob” characters:

  • SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper: A quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patty on a yellow square bun with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayo and ketchup.
  • Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots: Coin-shaped potato tots filled with cheese and bacon, served in a treasure chest carton.
  • Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie: Strawberry shortcake pie slice with layers of strawberry and vanilla-flavored cream, a cookie crumb crust, shortcake cookie crumbles and pink star-shaped sprinkles.
  • Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float: A frozen pineapple-flavored beverage topped with tropical-flavored cold foam.

Fans can also opt for a bundle menu:

  • Bikini Bottom Bundle: Customers can grab all the new items, which come in a Pineapple-shaped Under the Sea Box, with a medium float and 8-piece Cheesy Bacon Tots.
  • King Jr. Meal: The chain is also offering a special-edition King Jr. Meal in a Pineapple shaped Under the Sea Box featuring one of six collectible SpongeBob toys and a limited-edition SpongeBob crown.
