Snapchat is expanding its device footprint with the launch of a custom-built version of its app for Amazon Fire tablets, a move designed to make the platform accessible to even more users around the world.
Built specifically for Fire OS, the new app delivers a smoother UI and full compatibility with Amazon’s tablet ecosystem.
According to Snap, Fire tablets are “a popular choice for entertainment, learning, and staying in touch,” and bringing Snapchat to these devices makes it “easier than ever” for people to create and share everyday moments.
Functionally, the Fire OS version mirrors the experience found on iOS and Android. Users can access all core features, including: Chat, Stories, Lenses and Spotlight,
Snapchat+ subscribers also get the full suite of premium features on Fire tablets.
With more than 900 million monthly active users, Snapchat’s expansion to Fire OS aligns with its broader push to grow beyond mobile phones and reach more users across more platforms. And strategically, it comes at an important time: Snap’s user growth has plateaued in the U.S. and EU, making new entry points, especially in markets where Fire tablets are widely used, increasingly valuable.
As per Snapchat:
“Amazon Fire Tablets are a popular choice for entertainment, learning, and staying in touch. With Snapchat now available on Fire Tablets, it’s easier than ever for people around the world to create, capture, and share the everyday moments that matter most.”
Amazon’s Fire tablets may not rival the iPad or Samsung Galaxy line in scale, but they continue to be among the top-selling tablets globally, with demand rising over the past year. That makes Fire OS a logical next step for Snap as it chases incremental growth and easier accessibility.
The new Snapchat app is available now via the Amazon Appstore.
