The new season will not be fully  exclusive to Netflix, as the company stated it“has exclusive worldwide premiere rights and episodes will be available day-and-date on PBS stations in the US and across PBS KIDS digital platforms.”

In the announcement, Netflix also said that there will be some format changes as the streaming company prepares to show a “reimagined” Sesame Street with new animated segments and what Netflix calls “one 11-minute story” per episode.

“The longer format provides the opportunity to tell stories with even more character-driven humor and heart,” Netflix explains.

Sesame Street was dropped from Max (HBO Max) at the end of last year and had been searching for a new streaming partner. As part of the deal, Netflix will stream the new season as well as “90 hours of previous episodes.” Netflix says it will also develop games to continue to bring Sesame Street to life on its platform.
