Endless scrolling for that perfect outfit, home decor idea, or tattoo inspiration might soon be a thing of the past. Pinterest has launched a beta version of its AI-powered shopping assistant, designed to make finding what you love faster, easier, and a lot more personal.
Available initially to users in the U.S. aged 18 and up, Pinterest Assistant uses your previous saves, boards, and even collages, along with those of users who share your taste, to surface items that match your unique style. Rather than searching endlessly for the right thing, you can simply ask it to find ideas that “feel like you.”
What makes Pinterest’s approach stand out is its focus on visual discovery. While most chatbots depend on keywords or text-based intent, Pinterest Assistant builds on the platform’s long-standing AI foundation, the Taste Graph, a system that maps relationships between people, interests, and content to power more relevant recommendations.
According to Pinterest, the Assistant is “visual, personalized, and proactive,” meaning users don’t even have to know what they’re looking for to get inspired. It takes into account your evolving interests and behaviors to offer tailored results that feel like a curated shopping experience.
To make it even more natural, the tool supports voice prompts, allowing users to say things like “Show me holiday party dresses that fit my style,” and instantly get results that align with their past pins and preferences.
Pinterest joins a growing list of platforms experimenting with AI-driven shopping, including Amazon ,whose Lens feature lets users point their camera at an item to find similar products, and Google, which has been integrating generative AI into its product search and visual matching tools.
For Pinterest, though, it’s all about combining AI intelligence with personal taste, transforming the platform into something closer to a digital stylist or personal shopper.
The Pinterest Assistant is now in beta for U.S. users aged 18 and above, with wider availability planned in the coming weeks and months.
