Millions of fans across the world have signed a Change.org petition asking the NBA to redesign its logo in honor of the late Kobe Bryant.
Following the tragic news of the death of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, a petition was started on Change.org asking the NBA to update its logo to a silhouette of the late Lakers player. So far, it has received over 2.5 million signatures.
The current NBA logo design dates back to 1971 and features the silhouette of Jerry West, a former Lakers player.
The petition is asking that the NBA officially changes its logo to represent a silhouette of Kobe Bryant. The author of the petition, wrote, “With the untimely and unexpected passing of the great Kobe Bryant please sign this petition in an attempt to immortalize him forever as the new NBA logo.”
My original goal was to merely get one hundred signatures I didn’t expect anything to come out of this. Less than a day later we now have over 250,000 signatures 💜💛 pic.twitter.com/VsWlRVNYGS
