Facebook is rolling out a new feature that lets you create a video slideshow from your mobile photo album, without the need for any video-making skills of course. Each slideshow comes animated and has background music, bringing your photos to life.

I first discovered the new slideshow feature when Facebook actually created the first one for me, and asked me if I wanted to share it with my friends. That did capture my attention. Doing some digging, I found that the new feature was now available in the list of things I can do when typing in a new Facebook status on my phone.
When you start building your slideshow, you can control everything, from the photos you want to include, to the theme you wish to use (among 26 already available) and the title you want your video to have. Once you’re done, and just before you publish your slideshow, you also get the option to tag friends.

The result will be a Facebook video that will be published on your timeline:

The really great thing about slideshows is that you don’t have to upload the photos to Facebook first – you can use any photo that is stored on your mobile device. It’s a cool new feature that really brings your photos to life, especially when related to a specific event like a conference or a birthday party for example. What do you think?
