Netflix Is Making A Stranger Things Animated Series

There won’t be a sixth season but Netflix is planning to launch a spinoff animated series for Stranger Things.

We have known for a while now that Season 4 would not be the end of Stranger Things. In fact, filming for Season 5 should begin has been confirmed for a potential release in late 2024.

“Season four won’t be the end. We know what the end is, and we know when it is. [The pandemic] has given us time to look ahead, and figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story.”

We do not know much about the new season outside that the storyline will take place entirely in Hawkins, with Will Byers as the main focus. What we know is that season 5 will indeed mark the end of the series. But don’t be sad, we have just learned that the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, are already working on an animated series spinoff!

The animated series will air on Netflix, but the streaming service did not share much about it nor did they reveal any art or even when it could be released. That being said, we believe there is much to be excited about, with the Duffer brothers promising a thrilling “Saturday morning cartoons” feel for the animated spinoff:

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.”
