Meta x Oakley Smart Glasses Are Here

Meta just gave its smart glasses a sporty new twist. And they are built for performance.

Say hello to the Oakley Meta HSTN (that’s pronounced “how-stuhn.”) It’s a limited-edition drop priced at $499 and available for preorder starting July 11th. It’s Meta’s latest collab in the wearable space, and this time, they’re going after athletes, outdoor lovers, and high-performance lifestyles.

Built on Oakley’s unmistakable design language, these new smart glasses bring together tech and toughness in a way we haven’t seen before. The HSTN comes equipped with:

  • A 3K front-facing camera (yes, 3K, up from 1080p on the Ray-Bans)
  • Open-ear speakers
  • Beamforming mics
  • 8 hours of battery life (plus 48 with the charging case)
  • IPX4 water resistance
  • And full Meta AI integration,  including visual search and real-time translation

The result? You can livestream your trail run, ask your glasses what species that bird is, call your friend, and get a weather update, all without pulling out your phone. And it doesn’t stop there.

Meta’s bringing its tech to multiple Oakley frames this summer, starting at $399. The limited-edition HSTN leads the pack with gold accents and PRIZM lenses, but you’ll find other frames in warm grey, brown smoke, black, and clear, all prescription-ready and customizable with transition lenses. Available this summer in 15+ countries, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Australia, and more.

Meta clearly isn’t just chasing style anymore, it’s building out use cases. And performance is the next big one. “This is our first step into the performance category,” says Alex Himel, Meta’s head of wearables. “There’s more to come.”

Let’s not forget: Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses already crossed 2 million units sold, and the company’s multi-year deal with EssilorLuxottica (Oakley’s parent company) aims to scale that to 10 million units per year by 2026.

So, if Ray-Ban was the lifestyle launch, Oakley is the action drop. And if you weren’t paying attention before, now’s the time to look again.
