Lenovo is no stranger to experimenting with futuristic laptop designs, from transparent screens to rollable displays, and the latest leak suggests the company is about to push the envelope once again. Ahead of Europe’s IFA tradeshow next week, a concept laptop dubbed “Project Pivo” has surfaced, featuring a screen that can rotate between landscape and portrait orientations.

The design, first shared by reliable leaker Evan Blass, hints at a new level of versatility. While landscape mode dominates most laptop usage, portrait orientation could prove a game-changer for developers, coders, and anyone working with vertical content such as mobile app previews, social feeds, or long documents.
Of course, like many of Lenovo’s R&D experiments, including the see-through ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop and the rollable ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, there’s no guarantee Project Pivo will make it to market. But it shows how Lenovo continues to test the limits of what a laptop can be.
IFA attendees can also expect Lenovo to show off the Legion Go 2, the brand’s second-gen gaming handheld first teased at CES earlier this year, alongside a new lineup of tablets and Motorola smartphones. We’ll be keeping an eye on Lenovo’s announcements next week in Berlin to see if Project Pivo makes the leap from concept to reality.
