Instagram is working on a new feature called Picks, designed to help you find common ground with friends by comparing your favorite movies, TV shows, books, games, and music.

First spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, the prototype isn’t being tested publicly yet, but Meta has confirmed it’s real.
The idea is simple: you choose your Picks, Instagram shows where they overlap with friends, and you (hopefully) spark more genuine conversations. It fits with Adam Mosseri’s 2025 vision to make Instagram “more interactive and social” by doubling down on messaging and shared discovery.
Of course, Instagram’s feature list is already starting to feel like a packed attic, and not everyone will be thrilled about another addition.
Just look at the backlash over Instagram Map. Still, if it rolls out, Picks could be one of the rare updates that makes the app feel a little more human again.
