Instagram Will Now Let You Pin Your Own Comments

Instagram is rolling out a new tweak that gives users more control over their conversations: you can now pin your own comments on your posts.

Pinned comments aren’t new, Instagram first introduced the option back in 2020, letting users highlight up to three comments from others. Until now, though, you could only pin responses from other people, not your own.

That’s changing. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri explained the update in his AMA:

“A couple of weeks ago in my AMA, somebody asked me why you can’t pin your own comment. And we thought about it and you should be able to pin your own comment, because the whole point of pinned comments is that you should be able to shape that comment thread into whatever you want, because it’s your post in the first place. So we’ve fixed it and now you can pin your own comments.”

It’s a small but potentially useful addition. Pinning your own comment gives you space to:

  • Expand on your caption with extra context.
  • Share follow-up information or updates after posting.
  • Answer common questions in a spot that’s more visible.
  • Direct attention to related profiles or in-app content.

While you still can’t pin clickable links (that would be the real game-changer), having the option to highlight your own remarks makes it easier to guide the conversation and ensure important updates don’t get buried.

Instagram says the feature is rolling out this week.
