It’s a welcome evolution: Instagram has begun testing Fundraisers within feed posts. It’s a big change because it immediately increases the “shelf life” of the fundraising events. Until now, most fundraisers would disappear quickly as they were only available in Stories and Live.
Instagram says that 100% of the money collected through the tool goes directly to the target organizations, and donations are securely processed via Facebook Pay.
The feature was released today as part of Facebook’s wider #GivingTuesday activation, encouraging people to support small businesses and donate directly to non-profits. Facebook will match donations for up to seven million dollars. And starting today, users who follow accounts that use the I Donated or Donation stickers will see those accounts added to a shared Story at the front of the Stories bar.
The main @Instagram and @Creators accounts will highlight creators who are making a difference and share tips on how you too, can give back by volunteering, donating or a simple kind gesture shared on the platform.
Instagram wrote in a blog post Monday, “From @theconsciouskid using their platform to promote racial equity in education, to @ohhappydani raising money to create allyship artwork for educators across the U.S., to small businesses like @expeditionsubsahara selling authentic African goods by African artists to fund a girls’ STEAM school in Senegal, we’re excited to see our community extend these efforts through Giving Tuesday.”
Are you ready for this #GivingTuesday?
