In a world where every hangout competes with a screen, Heineken is doing something brilliantly analog to help disconnect IRL.
The scene is well known: you meet your friends for a drink. You want to talk about the latest [insert brand, sports, news] and learn all about what’s been happening. But your phone starts buzzing, notification after notification. You can’t ignore it anymore, you pick up and, well it’s the end of the moment, you get sucked in, you miss on the conversation.

Heineken thought they had to act and they launched “The Flipper,” which is exactly what it sounds like: a smartphone case that flips your phone shut like a 2003 Motorola Razor, except it’s made for your iPhone. To be precise, it does not flip your phone shut (hello folding iPhone!) but flips it around so you can no longer see your screen. And it activates with the sound of a beer cheer.
You can no longer scroll, swipe or doom-scroll your way out of the present moment. Yes, that simple piece of analog plastic does the unthinkable: it makes you look up, talk and maybe even make eye contact with real people.
Developed with Publicis Conseil and LeGarage, the case is available for free through a dedicated campaign website. “The Flipper” is a clever tactic that blends product design, nostalgia, and a bit of anti-tech charm into a culturally relevant brand message.
