The SpaceX HBO limited series will focus on the development of the first SpaceX rocket, its construction, and launch.
The show will be based on Ashlee Vance’s biography of the Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder, “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future.” Elon Musk himself is not directly involved in the project, according to the report from Variety.
The six-episode SpaceX HBO series will document how Musk, in pursuit of his lifelong dream to make humankind a multi-planetary species, handpicks a small team of engineers to work on a remote Pacific Island where they developed, built, and launched, the first-ever SpaceX rocket into orbit.
It will be written by Doug Jung and executive-produced by Channing Tatum and his production company. Jung is known to have written several sci-fi films, including Star Trek Beyond, and the acclaimed Netflix series Mindhunter.
Elon Musk is estimated to be worth over $93 billion. Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Musk is the founder, CEO, CTO, and chief designer of SpaceX as well as being an early investor, CEO, and product architect of Tesla. He is also the founder of The Boring Company, an infrastructure and tunnel construction services company looking to solve the issues associated with the current two-dimensional transportation network.
