Fujifilm’s New Instax Mini LiPlay Plus Brings Instant Cameras Into the Selfie Age

Fujifilm is bringing its beloved instant cameras firmly into the selfie era with the launch of the Instax Mini LiPlay Plus, an upgraded version of the 2019 hybrid digital-instant camera that now includes two cameras for both POV and selfie shots.

Like its predecessor, the LiPlay Plus can instantly print photos on Fujifilm’s Mini film and even record short audio clips that can be embedded as QR codes on prints. But this new version gets a major design refresh: a more angular, modern look, a rear-facing wide-angle camera for perfectly framed selfies, and a larger 3-inch LCD display.

Fujifilm is releasing the LiPlay Plus in sand beige and midnight blue later this month for $234.95. Alongside it comes a new Soft Glitter Mini film, featuring subtle gold accents for extra sparkle, available in packs of ten exposures for $17.99.

While resolution remains the same (2,560 × 1,920 pixels on both lenses), Fujifilm is introducing a new layered photo mode that lets users stack two images, one from each camera, into a single frame using four creative templates. (BeReal anyone?)

Audio features make a partial return: users can still record voice clips that play via the Instax Mini LiPlay app or through the printed QR code, though the recording limit drops from 10 to 3 seconds this time.

Beyond instant prints, the mobile app expands what the LiPlay Plus can do: edit images, add stickers and frames, and even print smartphone photos directly from the camera. Bluetooth connectivity allows your phone to double as a remote shutter, ideal for group photos or solo shots without the arm stretch.

The result? A fun, compact camera that merges analog nostalgia with digital convenience, and now, with a little more room for your best angle.
