Messenger is already one of the leading messaging app out there. Of course, as a spin-off of the largest social network there is, it had a good start, especially when Facebook decided to “force” us into using Messenger.

In a nationwide test in France, Facebook is now giving users the option to have their messages disappear after a defined lapse of time.
Users can turn the feature on and off from within the app. Users who get early access will see an hourglass icon at the bottom of the screen. A tap on the icon will turn the feature on. A second tap will turn it off.
The new feature is currently limited to users in France but Facebook could be planning a worldwide release should the test be successful:

Starting today, we’re conducting a small test in France of a feature that allows people to send messages that disappear an hour after they’re sent. Disappearing messages gives people another fun option to choose from when they communicate on Messenger. We look forward to hearing people’s feedback as they give it a try.[/quote]
