Facebook has announced new features for Messenger, including new chat themes, a quick reply bar, and QR codes and payment links.
Three new messaging features are coming to Messenger, meant to boost the app’s experience. New chat themes that help you personalize your conversations, a new quick reply bar that makes it easier to respond to conversations, and QR codes and payment links that allow you to send and receive money for people – even if you’re not friends on Facebook.

New Olivia Rodrigo, World Oceans Day, Pride, and F9 Chat Themes
First up, chat themes, a new way to change “your chat room style.” There are many out there on Messenger and Instagram, but new ones include:
Olivia Rodrigo: To help fans celebrate the launch of Olivia’s new album, Sour, Facebook released “a whimsical chat theme featuring Olivia’s signature face stickers” to help people share their favorite songs from her new album.
World Oceans Day: This chat theme lets you virtually explore the world’s oceans and promote sustainability and the importance of keeping our oceans clean for future generations.
F9: Fast and Furious fans will be pleased about the new F9 chat theme on the Fast Saga’s 20th anniversary. Time for a Fast & Furious movie marathon, perhaps?
All you have to do to try a new chat theme on Messenger (and Instagram) is to go to your chat settings, tap “Theme,” and pick your theme!
Messenger Quick Reply Bar
The new quick reply bar in Messenger media viewer makes it easier “to have conversations sparked by a cool photo or video without needing to go back to your main chat thread.”
All you have to do is tap on the photo or video and send your response through the quick reply bar found right at the bottom of the screen. You can also swipe up to exit the full-screen media viewer and go back to your main chat thread.
Messenger QR Codes and Payment Links
US Messenger users will now be able to use QR codes and payment links to send or request money with Facebook Pay – from anyone, not just those they’re friends with on Facebook. There is no need to download a different app or add new contacts.
Just access a personal QR code and payment link, and share it with others to scan and send or request money.
