Anthropic’s Claude is officially joining Microsoft 365, giving Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive users a powerful new copilot.
Through a new connector, users can now chat with Claude directly inside apps like SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams, allowing the AI to pull real-time data from their workplace tools and deliver contextually relevant responses. This marks another major step in the ongoing race to embed AI directly into the software millions already use every day.
By connecting Claude via Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), users can grant the chatbot access to their Microsoft 365 data, helping it “reason through complex problems, make informed decisions, and take action faster,” according to Anthropic.
That means Claude can:
- Sift through emails in Outlook to identify trends or key points
- Summarize project updates from Teams conversations
- Retrieve files or policy documents from SharePoint and OneDrive
In short, it can now function as a true workplace assistant, helping professionals find, organize, and interpret the information they already have scattered across Microsoft’s ecosystem.
Enterprise search: AI that actually knows your company
Anthropic is also rolling out a new enterprise search feature that centralizes data from all a company’s connected apps. Ask Claude, for example, “What’s our remote work policy?” and it will pull information from HR docs, internal emails, and team chats to deliver one comprehensive answer.
The feature is designed to streamline common organizational tasks, from onboarding new employees to analyzing customer feedback, by giving Claude a more holistic understanding of internal systems.
The Microsoft 365 connector is available now for Claude Team and Enterprise users. Admins will need to enable the integration before it’s accessible to team members.
The enterprise search feature is also live for all business accounts, requiring admins to curate which apps Claude can draw from.
The integration follows Anthropic’s recent funding round, which reportedly values the company at $183 billion, signaling its rising influence in the enterprise AI space.
It also comes amid Microsoft’s gradual shift away from exclusive reliance on OpenAI, with two of Anthropic’s most advanced models already integrated into Microsoft Copilot earlier this fall.
