You can now connect your Facebook and Google accounts to Periscope on iOS or on the web, to find friends, share broadcasts before they begin, or to login to the app.
You can now login to Periscope using your Facebook or Google accounts. But that’s not all. Once you connect your accounts, you can use them to login, share your broadcasts on Facebook, and get suggestions based on Facebook Friends or Google contacts who are on Periscope. You can set this up on iOS or the web for the moment, and the feature will be coming to Android soon.
Here’s how to connect your Facebook or Google accounts to Periscope.
How To Connect Your Facebook Account
- Log into your Periscope account on iOS.
- Go to your profile.
- Scroll down and select Connected Accounts.
- Tap Connect Facebook.
- Log into your Facebook account.
- If you have the Facebook app installed on your device, you can log in with the app.
- If you don’t have the Facebook app installed, enter your email or phone and Facebook password.
- If you have two factor authentication setup for your Facebook account, you’ll need to complete this before your account can be connected.
- You’ll be redirected back to the Periscope app and your Facebook account should be connected.
Note that your Facebook account can only be associated with one Periscope account, so make sure you pick the right one. However, you can also disconnect your Facebook account at any time – just tap on it under Connected Accounts, and select Disconnect Facebook.
As soon as you’ve connected your Facebook account you will start to see broadcast suggestions that are based on Facebook Friends who are also on Periscope. Also, you will be able to share broadcasts on Facebook before they begin. If you want to find out how this is done, click here.
How To Connect Your Google Account
- Log into your Periscope account on iOS.
- Go to your profile.
- Scroll down and select Connected Accounts.
- Tap Connect Google.
- Enter your email or phone and tap Next.
- Enter your Google password and tap Next.
- If you have two factor authentication setup for your Google account, you’ll need to complete this before your account can be connected.
- You’ll be redirected back to the Periscope app and your Google account should be connected.
- Once you have connected your Google account, you will be asked if you would like to sync your Google contacts. If you agree to sync your contacts by pressing the Sync Contacts button and following the instructions in the Google modal, we will be able to suggest Periscope users to you that are in your Google contact book.
Again, note that your Google account can only be associated with one Periscope account. Also, as is the case with Facebook, you can disconnect your Google account at any point – just by tapping on it under Connected Accounts and selecting Disconnect Google.
