The BBC is launching a new tool that will let you watch or listen to BBC programming with your friends or family remotely over the internet.
BBC Together is a new experimental tool being launched by BBC that lets you watch or listen to content from the BBC with others while social distancing. Sounds a lot like Netflix Party? Well, that’s because it’s pretty much the same thing – everyone sees the same thing on their screen (at the same time) but in different locations. The only thing that’s different here is the content.
It works with any audio or video content from the BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, Bitesize, BBC News, and BBC Sport. In order to use it, get the link of a program or piece of video you want to watch with others and paste it into the BBC Together service.

Doing so creates a new group session, which can be shared via a link with anyone – friends or family. As the person who started the session, you are in charge of pausing, playing, seeking, or choosing content for everyone.
You can try it on Taster, the BBC’s site for experimental technologies.
As you can imagine, BBC Together is useful, especially for people who are not in physical contact with others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
