Adidas Now Offers a Laced Version of Its 3D-Printed Climacool Sneakers

Adidas is doubling down on its futuristic footwear with a practical twist. The brand’s 3D-printed Climacool shoes now come with laces, giving wearers an adjustable fit that should make the sci-fi sneakers feel a bit more like, well, sneakers.

Previously only available as slip-ons in a single off-white colorway, the new Climacool Laced version adds a black tongue and standard laces, subtly shifting the look from design experiment to street-ready. It’s a small but meaningful update: adding laces means wearers can tweak how snug the shoes feel, a welcome change for anyone who found the original’s tight lattice structure a bit too clingy.

The main body of the Climacool Laced remains a marvel of additive manufacturing. Adidas says each pair takes roughly 24 hours to produce, involving spinning, baking, and compression of high-tech polymers into the shoe’s signature breathable, fast-drying lattice. Unlike the slip-on version, the laced variant features 3D-printed eyelets, while the tongue and laces themselves are traditionally made.

The laced update comes just months after Adidas expanded the once-limited Climacool line with a wider global release in April 2025. Starting today, the new $160 Climacool Laced are available at select Adidas stores and retailers, but if you want to buy them online, you’ll have to go through Adidas’ Confirmed app. That’s $20 more than the slip-on, but for fans of cutting-edge kicks that actually fit right, it’s probably worth the extra spend.
