New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate with friends and family. And Facebook Live makes it easier for all to celebrate together, whether we’re all in the same room or a totally different continent.
The year started with a bang on Facebook Live, as New Year’s Eve marked the best day ever for the feature. In a recent blog post, Facebook announced that over 10 million people around the world joined friends, family, and their communities on Facebook Live, broadcasting their NYE shenanigans. That’s 47% more people sharing live videos than New Year’s Eve 2016!
Overall, there were 3 times more live broadcasts on NYE, compared to any average day in December. The top US cities where people went live on Facebook this year were: Las Vegas, Orlando, Detroit, Memphis, New York, Houston, Chicago, Honolulu, San Antonio, and Milwaukee.
Any guesses what the most popular reaction was on Facebook Live videos this NYE?
Facebook also shared a video showing data on live broadcasts per minute as the new year was ushered. Each small dot on the globe is 100 live videos, while larger “bursts” represents 1,000. The video also shows countries colour-coded according to the percentage of users in that country posting live videos.
