A while ago we might not have known, but it is becoming a bit clearer as to what WhatsApp’s plans are. Yes it seems to be on a collision course with Slack and Skype, the current most popular team collaboration solutions out there. First, the company released a standalone app for Windows and Mac, and now its adding document sharing to its web client.
A few weeks ago we reported that the company was working on a standalone app for Windows and Mac and then that actually happened. It might not be what we were expecting – it still relies on our phone to work – but it enriched the WhatsApp experience. It also allowed users to share PDFs and other documents. This feature has also just been launched on the browser version of WhatsApp.

Whereas Messenger is a perfect customer service solution, WhatsApp wants to become the number one messaging and team collaboration app out there. Now you can send PDFs and other documents – CSVs, DOCs, DOCXs, PPTs, PPTXs, RTFs, TXTs, XLSs and XLSXs. If you want to use the feature, all you have to do is click on the attachment icon and choose your attachment type.
