Facebook confirms its leading position in respect and commitment to the LGBT community by rolling out an update to its Gender option that lets user fill-in what they want.
Facebook had already been among the first to allow user to select different gender options in the past. Today, they have made things simpler – and probably more open-minded – by letting users type in whatever they want to describe themselves.
Users can just go to their about section and select “custom” gender. A text box will then appear and let users write in what they think bet describes themselves. Moreover, users will then be able to choose what pronoun they want to use, like in “Wish him/her/them a happy birthday!”

A statement from Facebook Diversity explains:

The new option is available to everyone who uses Facebook in US English. To change it, visit your profile page, click the Update Info button near bottom right of your cover photo and then click Contact and Basic Info. Finally, locate the Gender option.
